About Rug Jones..
How do I build my collection? I make several trips to Iran every year to scour the bazaars looking for new styles and designs at the most reasonable prices.
Why am I more qualified to sell you a handmade Persian rug than anyone else? I've lived my entire life in the United States I believe I have a good handle on the sorts of colors and designs that work with most American households. Having grown up as the son of a rugman, I'm intimately aware of the many different types of rugs available and what to look for when I go on buying trips. I don't choose my inventory indiscriminately. Rather my selections are based on a lifetime around these works of art.
Who am I? I am an Iranian American journalist who travels to Iran regularly. I also happen to love rugs. My father has been a rug merchant and this has given me first hand insight into an industry that I know is in need of transformation. I believe in information and transparency, something others in the field feel gets in the way of making a buck.
Many people have negative feelings about the Oriental rug industry and those who work in it. My primary goal is to provide you with an alternative to the high priced, high pressure shady practices so often associated with the trade. I believe that the only way our customers can make an informed decision about purchasing a rug is to provide them with as much practical knowledge about rugs as possible
